Valentine’s Day at Plateia
Valentine’s Day at the Luskin Conference Center’s Plateia restaurant and lounge is a special occasion — one that draws couples from on and off-campus each year for a memorable evening. What makes Plateia particularly inviting is that its warm atmosphere helps to create a great night out, regardless of the occasion, yet its elevated service, décor and ambiance really amplify special occasions, such as a day that celebrates love.
From the food to the atmosphere, Plateia has become a spot where wonderful memories are made and milestones are celebrated.
On Feb. 14, Plateia will celebrate Valentine’s Day in style with a specially crafted three-course menu. Guests have their choice of appetizers, entrées and desserts. Each meal will be paired with a complimentary glass of Prosecco.
Recipes feature locally grown in-season vegetables, including roasted tri-color cauliflower and blanched green asparagus and wild mushrooms starters; and choice of entrées, including chestnut triangoli stuffed with sautéed shrimp, celery root and apple; or braised short ribs with roasted winter vegetables.
Guests may also choose the chocolate Nemesis cake or pistachio panna cotta to end their meals. Both are perfect for sharing.
“On special occasions like this we want people to spoil themselves,” said Chef Jason Tingley, of the $75 per plate special menu. “I truly feel we have some of the best food, and I would challenge any restaurant in Westwood to be of this caliber at this price point.”
Plateia’s warm atmosphere and Mediterranean-inspired, California-fresh menu make it a popular choice for people seeking excellent quality food in the midst of one of the world’s most well-known university campuses.
“We’re off the beaten path, and that gives us a unique opportunity to wow people.”
In addition, music will be played throughout the evening on the grand piano that sits in the Plateia lounge. The melodic feast is part of the Luskin Conference Center’s Student Music Series, which features some of UCLA’s most talented student pianists.
The music and ambiance extend to the gorgeous dining room and onto the outside patios, including one that offers a garden experience, complete with a fireplace, water feature and dozens of olive trees amidst other thoughtfully planned plants and shrubs that are native to California. A perfect location to celebrate love under the stars.
