UCLA’s 100th means it’s the perfect time to stay with us!
In celebration of its 100th birthday, UCLA has planned commemorative events all year long both on campus and throughout the city of Los Angeles. With such close proximity to all that’s happening, staying at our on-campus hotel in centrally located West Los Angeles is the perfect place to be.
And if you need a good starting point to take part in these amazing UCLA Centennial events, check out UCLA 10 Questions, a series of panel talks every Tuesday this fall where the public is invited to join UCLA students in the classroom to hear scholars and alumni across different disciplines explore a key question. The first talk, on October 1, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in Kaufman Hall, asks the question: What is the university? Other topics will include knowledge, justice, truth, love, nature and creativity, to name a few. It’s sure to be food for thought.
One of the most anticipated Centennial events is also the second biggest date in the history of the internet! “Internet50” takes place on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, exactly fifty years to the date when the internet was founded. Leading internet experts will be gathering at UCLA to laud its inception, discuss its impact and explore its future. Check here for more details on the event.
Also this fall is the return of a family favorite: “Exploring Your Universe,” UCLA’s free science festival. Taking place on Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m., the festival features hands-on demonstrations for all ages, physics and science talks, telescope viewings, planetarium shows, and more.
To fuel up for the fun, be sure to stop by Plateia, our on-site Mediterranean-inspired restaurant and lounge, and enjoy a refreshing beverage and delicious meal. Review the day’s events or unwind after an exhilarating day of celebrating over a specialty cocktail or glass of wine in our year-round al fresco patio.
With all the Centennial events taking place this fall — whether you’re coming to listen to experts speak at one of the Centennial’s 10 Questions forums or commemorate the 50th anniversary of where the internet first began — the Luskin Conference Center makes an ideal home base.
Don’t wait, but book your stay now for the Centennial events coming up!
