Welcome to the birthplace of the mall! The San Fernando Valley is what made the shopping mall and shopping famous as a cultural institution, especially in the 1980s. Several movies have been filmed at malls in the Valley, including Fast Times at Ridgemont High in 1982 at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. One of the largest shopping complexes in California is located in the Valley, in Woodland Hills: The Topanga Center. It includes several malls and outdoor shopping areas, where you can shop your heart out. For boutique stores, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, and North Hollywood have lots to offers along Ventura Boulevard.
