Avram Kahn
Title: Building A Structure That Can Barely Support its Own Weight
Medium: Ink Transfer and Gouache on Xerox-printed Paper and Custom Built Steel Frame. 2017
Location:

This piece, created by a UCLA student, was inspired by Andy Warhol’s Car Crash series. It also suggests an understanding of the work of Robert Rauschenberg, who also created black-and-white collages made up of imagery drawn from existing sources. The artist Avram Khan’s “found” images were transferred to photocopy paper that was then pieced together, almost like a quilt. Look for the image of the snake-headed Medusa, based on a painting by the late-16th-century artist Caravaggio.
